With the deadline just under a month away for entries to the biggest celebration of the region’s business achievements we take a look at the second of four award categories in this year’s Business Challenge – the award for Business Excellence.
KPMG are once again presenting the award for Business Excellence and as advisor to some of the most successful and innovative companies in Devon and Cornwall, Ian Brokenshire, Senior Partner at the firm’s Plymouth office, is used to spotting star quality.
“With this award we want to find a market leading business with sound leadership and management, enviable financial results, strong processes and delighted customers.” says Ian.
“A tall order you might say, yet over the past few years we have seen some great examples of businesses that have really excelled in their market. These companies have had strong corporate governance, clear strategies and a focus on employees and customers.”
Ian explains “Having been involved with Business Challenge for over a decade I am amazed at the new heights the entrants take the level of competition to each year. Last year’s finalists, Bott Ltd, Cornwall Care and Ocean Housing were no exception to this, demonstrating not only the range of successful business in the region but the strength of commercial talent that is in evidence here.”
“We are encouraging companies of all shapes and sizes to take a good look at how far they have come in recent times and put themselves forward for this award. There are many shining examples of businesses that are excelling and we want to celebrate and reward those companies.”
To be in with a chance of winning the award, businesses must demonstrate that they have high ambitions, and are continuously looking to improve business processes and practices; performance; customer service, product development or profitability.
With four award categories this year’s Business Challenge 2008 is also celebrating achievements in International Trade, Corporate Social Responsibility and Communications. To find out more or to download an entry pack, visit www.businesschallenge2008. The deadline for entries is Friday 6 June.
