Business Challenge 2008 entry date has been extended

Entries have been flooding in for this year’s Devon and Cornwall Business Challenge but it’s not too late to put forward an entry. In order to allow more time for local businesses to prepare their submissions, the sponsors of Business Challenge 2008 have extended the deadline for entries until Friday 13 June.

The sponsors of Business Challenge, Bond Pearce LLP, KPMG, RBS and Twofour, explain “To ensure that local businesses have the best opportunity to highlight their achievements we are extending the deadline for entries. All too often business talent goes unrecognised and Business Challenge is a great platform in addressing this. Each year more and more great stories are revealed and for any business who has been considering putting an entry together the message is that there's still time."

Each of the award categories aims to recognise the wealth of talent that exists across the region and with new award categories this year the Challenge reflects the climate in which businesses throughout Devon and Cornwall are operating.

By way of reminder, the four Business Challenge awards categories are:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility Award presented by Bond Pearce LLP
  • Business Excellence Award presented by KPMG
  • International Trade Award presented by RBS
  • Communications Award presented by Twofour

This year’s finalists will be announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony and Black Tie Dinner at the Headland Hotel, Newquay on Thursday 9 October.

To enter the awards, go to the Business Challenge 2008 website www.businesschallenge2008.co.uk and print off the easy to fill in entry form. Businesses may enter more than one category if they wish.

Entries must be in by the extended deadline of 13 June.

Notes to editors

The Devon and Cornwall Business Challenge 2008 launched on Thursday 10 April 2008. The Devon and Cornwall Business Challenge awards are recognised as being the most prestigious in the region. The Challenge has been running for 20 years and in that time has recognised many key regional businesses for their commercial talent.

In 2008 there are four award categories:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility Award presented by Bond Pearce LLP
  • Business Excellence Award presented by KPMG
  • International Trade Award presented by RBS
  • Communications Award presented by Twofour

The closing date for entries is Friday 6 June 2008.

Finalists and other guests will be invited to a gala dinner at the Headland Hotel, Newquay on Thursday 9 October where the winners will be announced.
